The Veterinary Neurological Center in Phoenix, Arizona, from time to time will invite applications (via the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians‘ residency matching program) for an ACVIM-approved residency position in neurology and neurosurgery. The three-year program under the supervision of four board-certified neurologists will focus on the fundamentals of neurophysiology, neuroanatomy and clinical neurology and neurosurgery. The emphasis of the residency will be to provide training that will lead to board certification in neurology. Supplemental rotations through internal medicine, radiology and pathology services at veterinary teaching hospitals are included in the program.

The VNC offers in-house radiology, CT and MR scanners, spinal fluid analysis, electrodiagnostics and full neurosurgical capabilities. Residents will be required to submit at least two first-author publications to a refereed journal during their residency. Participation in monthly journal clubs and presentations of semiannual didactic seminars to local veterinarians is also required and attendance at national veterinary conferences and grand rounds at local human hospitals when available (see Barrow Neurological Institute). Annual reappointment of the resident is contingent upon continued satisfactory performance. Candidates must have completed a one-year rotating internship or have had acceptable practice experience.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, college transcripts and 3 letters of reference to:
